Rates and Fees
|
|
|
The monthly water rates are effective as of February 5, 2011. Potable water charges have (1) a monthly service charge (based on meter size) which the customer pays regardless of the amount of water used and (2) usage charges.
The monthly service charge is set to recover the costs of meter maintenance and replacement as well as meter reading and billing costs.

*The Bulk Water Station/Standpipe allows for customers to fill water trucks, street brooms etc. We also have many rural customers that use the station to fill mobile type reservoirs.
Residential customers are charged for water usage via a tiered rate structure. As the usage tier increases, the unit price or rate for the tier increases. The table below shows the tier rate structure with examples.

Single Family Residential Rate
|
Example of Tiered Billing
Using the table to the left, with a 5/8" meter, if a family used 12,000 gallons of water they would be charged:
- $15.12 for the monthly minimum.
- $2.46 per 1,000 gallons for the first 10,000 gallons ($2.46 x 10 = $24.60).
- $3.43 per 1,000 gallons for the remaining 2,000 gallons ($3.43 x 2 = $6.86).
- $.40 per 1,000 gallons for all 12,000 gallons ($.40 x 12 = $4.80).
- The total cost (before taxes) for the use of 12,000 gallons is $51.38 ($15.12 + $24.60 + $6.86 + $4.80).

The Gravity Storage and Renewable Resource Impact Fee applies to all new water meters.
** This fee was implemented to help the Town of Marana Utilities Department in interconnecting all of our water systems with elevated or gravity storage reservoirs. This will allow for better fire flow, positive pressures during times of power outages, and will better our overall system redundancy. This fee also applies to the management of our aquifers by allocation, treatment and use of CAP water, and other alternative water supplies.
