Engineering Department
The engineering department consists of 4 distinct divisions that specialize in the regulation of development. The engineering department reviews private development in the Town for subdivisions, commercial developments, and individual residential construction. The engineering department also provides review and assistance with the design and permitting of Town capital improvement projects.
Development Engineering Division
Development engineering primarily reviews and permits private development projects, both residential and commercial, for compliance with engineering codes and practice for geometrics, grading, and drainage. Development engineering also reviews and permits individual residential grading in coordination with building permits. Development engineering also reviews and issues floodplain use permits for the Town of Marana
Traffic Engineering Division,

Traffic engineering reviews both private development projects and Town projects for traffic related issues including road capacity/level of service, access management, operational safety and traffic signal warrants. Traffic engineering works closely with the operations and maintenance department on recommendations and modifications for traffic safety.
Environmental Engineering Division, manager Jennifer Christelman
Environmental Engineering is responsible for habitat conservation planning, river restoration projects, environmental compliance review of development plans, and coordination of environmental permitting for Town capital improvement projects. Environmental engineering manages the Stormwater Program, which includes public education and public participation programs. Environmental engineering also manages cultural resources within the Town of Marana and heritage grants.
Building Safety Division
Building Safety is dedicated to building safety for the benefit and welfare of the Town's residents, business enterprises, and visitors. Building Safety strives to provide timely customer service while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while assuring that all design complies with appropriate building codes and practices.
